Smiths Detection’s HI-SCAN 6046si X-ray inspection system is designed to produce detailed images of scanned objects with high resolution sensor technology, allowing security personnel to quickly and effectively evaluate personal bags, briefcases and other items for explosives, weapons and contraband as people pass through checkpoints. With a higher tunnel opening than a more standard checkpoint system but with the same general footprint, the HI-SCAN 6046si can scan larger objects.

In January 2009, the US Marshals Service purchased these systems for installation in courthouse lobbies throughout the United States.
