Cypress earns 'Top 30 Technology' distinction

LAPEER, Michigan – Cypress Integration Solutions was recently named among the companies producing the Top 30 Technology Innovations of 2015. The Top 30 award was announced this month by Security Sales & Integration Magazine, honoring the Cypress OSMIUM Wiegand-OSDP converter.

Open Supervised Device Protocol – also known as OSDP™ – is the new communication protocol developed by the Security Industry Association. The Cypress OSMIUM™ converter is among the first devices to help access control systems make the transition to OSDP.

"OSDP finally enables the industry to advance in lockstep toward applying secure, supervised, and standardized communication between a control panel and the access control point," said Tony Diodato, Cypress Chief Technology Officer. "This has been needed for decades."

OSMIUM repackages Wiegand, Serial, Strobe, ABA, Barcode and other widely used interfaces into an equivalent OSDP packet structure. The converter also supervises the reader-panel connection, and can be field-configured as a reader-side or panel-side device.

Earlier this year, Cypress earned the New Product Showcase: Best in Access Control Devices & Peripherals award for the OSMIUM at ISC West.
